Breakfast is often one of the hardest meals to fit into a busy day. No matter how organized you are, I think we can all relate to hectic mornings and sometimes skipping breakfast altogether — and that usually leaves everyone cranky.

With September almost here, those slower summer mornings are quickly disappearing. Kids are heading back to school, work schedules are picking up, and suddenly everyone needs to be out the door at the same time.

I’ve heard from so many of you that while dinner is, of course, the hardest meal to find time to make, breakfast can be a big stress too. It’s so easy to skip it completely, grab a not-so-great bar on the way out the door, or make a Starbucks run for yourself and the family before the work and school day begins.

So today, I’m sharing some of my favorite easy breakfast recipes, along with a few tips and tricks for making busy mornings feel a little easier. Whether the kids are heading off to school, you have a packed workday ahead, or there’s a flight to catch, everyone deserves a good start to the day.

My hope is that the recipes below feel exciting and delicious, but also realistic enough for even the craziest mornings. Some can be prepped the night before, others are perfect for making over the weekend, and a few are easy enough to pull together that morning. I’m also sharing recipes you can keep stocked in the freezer to simply grab, warm up, and enjoy.

My Best Tips and Tricks for Busy Mornings

1. Plan breakfast like you plan dinner. First and foremost, I recommend thinking about breakfast the night before or over the weekend. If you’re someone who likes to eat something different each morning and wants a little variety, create a breakfast menu for the week. Do the shopping and any prep you can ahead of time, and add each recipe to your calendar. Then there’s nothing to think about each morning. Easy!

2. Keep your freezer stocked. Bake muffins and breads over the weekend. Slice the breads, wrap everything up, and freeze. Pancakes and waffles can be made ahead, frozen, and then toasted straight from the freezer. You can even freeze breakfast burritos or egg-filled muffins for something savory.

3. Let the fridge do the work overnight. For puddings and oats, prep everything the night before. Start your oatmeal in the crockpot before bed so it’s warm and ready when you wake up. Chia pudding can be portioned into jars and kept in the fridge for an easy grab-and-go breakfast.

4. A little prep makes mornings so much easier. Even with the best planning, there are always mornings when nothing goes as planned. Keep a few easy favorites stocked and ready to grab — homemade muffins, breakfast bars, yogurt, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, or whatever your family loves. Having something ready is always better than heading out the door hungry.
